Collections Assistant
The Antique Boat Museum, the largest freshwater maritime museum in the world situated on the St. Lawrence River in the beautiful Thousand Islands, requires a Collections Assistant. Reporting to the Associate Curator and working closely with the other members of the Public Programs Department, and ABM Facilities staff, the Collections Assistant’s primary responsibility is to assist with the care and management of the Museum’s artifact collections.  The job also entails researching artifacts and historical themes for the development of exhibits, programs and publications. The ideal candidate will have experience in computerized collections management systems and related functions, such as insuring, moving, storing, packing and transporting artifacts. They should also have experience and/or an interest in maritime and boating history. The ABM’s Public Programs Department is a highly-computerized environment, and the Collections Assistant should be familiar with digital photography; scanning and digital imaging; Adobe Photoshop and MS Office applications. This position is full-time year-round; salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience. Position Overview

 

The Minnesota Marine Art Museum seeks an Executive Director to provide administrative, intellectual, and programmatic leadership for the planning, management and growth of the Museum.  The Executive Director proactively engages and communicates with our many member, volunteer, donor and public constituencies; works closely with the Museum board of directors; plans and manages the business and financial affairs of the Museum and coordinates the work of staff and committees. This is a full-time position.

 

The applicant must possess a strong record of experience and achievement in the field of business and financial management; a record of experience in art museum and/or non-profit operations and marketing; and the ability to inspire and lead staff, volunteers and directors.  In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent leadership, management, and administrative skills, as well as strong interpersonal, communication, team-building, negotiation and problem solving skills. Proven leadership and experience in board, management, and donor relations and fundraising are also required. The Museum, founded in 2005, is a nonprofit museum and educational institution working to preserve and present its art holdings, largely original oil paintings, regional folk art sculpture and historic Upper Mississippi photographic prints and traveling art exhibits.  The museum is complemented by its setting on a commercial harbor on the Mississippi River.  The museum’s website contains additional information about the museum and the area community.
