USS Slater seeks an enthusiastic, creative, self-motivated educator or historian to be responsible for development, scheduling, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs held at the ship and off-site; and, for recruitment, training, and professionalism of docents and seasonal staff. The Education Coordinator is a full-time, year-round position.

Minimum BA/BS. Excellent organizational, verbal, and computer skills. Ability to think and work independently and collaboratively and to communicate with diverse audiences. Superior writing skills required. Prior museum or attraction and supervisory experience preferred. Willingness to work nontraditional hours. Strong interest in World War II preferred.

The USS Slater is an historic naval ship owned and operated by the Destroyer Escort Historical Museum. She has been restored to her World War II configuration and is open to the public April through November for tours, overnight camping, ship reunions, and other activities.
