Overview
The History of Diving Museum is a 501.c3 non-profit located in Islamorada, Florida. Our mission is to tell the story of man’s quest to explore under the sea – with over 3,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space displaying one of the largest collections of diving equipment in the world, a research library/conference room and a museum store. Our location in the Upper Keys, in close proximity to spectacular reef and wreck dive sites, is a popular destination for recreational divers as well as for cultural tourists exploring the rich history of the Florida Keys. As we enter our eighth year of operation, HDM seeks a career-minded museum professional to join our team and help us reach new and greater heights.

Position Summary
As is the case with most small museums, all staff members at HDM wear many hats. The position offered will encompass several areas of museum work ranging from day-to-day operations to off-site outreach. The ideal candidate will be flexible, versatile and creative – willing to go the extra mile and think outside the box to overcome obstacles and achieve goals. We believe that a museum’s success is a team effort and this position will work closely with the Director and other staff to build a promotional platform that includes marketing, memberships, group tours, events and educational programming.

Responsibilities

•Create and oversee weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual advertising in a wide variety of mediums – including print, digital, radio, and television.
•Plan and coordinate monthly seminars, quarterly special events, and additional promotional and/or fundraising opportunities.
•Develop and manage a team of volunteers to assist in the successful realization of museum events and programs.
•Maintain and expand membership through direct contact and promotional programming.
•Assist with Visitor Services and Museum Store operations when necessary.
•Administer and develop museum website, blog, calendar and connected social media platforms.
•Build relationships with schools, businesses, clubs and other organizations to expand educational outreach and group visitation.
•Explore and promote facility rental opportunities for both museum and library/conference room.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related field (Museum Studies preferred) or commensurate work experience. Computer skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required, familiarity with PastPerfect and Photoshop or similar graphics program preferred.

Personal attributes: Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well the ability to work as part of a team are essential characteristics for this position. Candidate should also be a confident, self-starter with strong organizational abilities.

The New York Yacht Club seeks applicants for full-time Collections Manager.  Diverse collection includes yacht models, marine paintings, prints, drawings, silver, nautical objects and furniture, located within its two historical clubhouses  (midtown Manhattan and Newport, Rhode Island).  Collections Manager will work primarily in Manhattan clubhouse.  The Collections Manager is responsible for all of the day-to-day activities of this very significant and active collection.

Responsibilities include
–Maintaining appraisal records
–Accessioning, deaccessioning and maintaining permanent collections digital catalog and files
–Working for Fine Art and Model Committee on numerous collections projects
–Scheduling and overseeing restorations
–Moving, installing and storing collections for both clubhouses
–Curate temporary exhibitions: research, label writing, exhibition design, layout, tours, promoting exhibit, etc.
–Maintaining and updating collections portion of NYYC website
–Giving tours of collections
–Handling all aspects of incoming and outgoing loans including shipping, insurance, documentation, etc.
–Updating documentation on collections in relational database
–Answer inquiries regarding collections and maritime art and history
–Coordinating maritime art and history lectures
–Keeping accurate inventory of fine art and model collections
–Developing and implementing inventory projects

Minimum requirements
–B.A. in Art History, Museum Studies or similar field (M.A. preferred)
–2 yr. experience in collections management and curatorial work
–Must have knowledge of common museum registrar practices
–Experience with digital camera and files
–Experience working with relational database
–Experience with scanning, modifying and archiving digital files
–Must be able to multi-task and prioritize
–Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Assistant Designation Adviser, Maritime, English Heritage, closes 6 June.

We are looking for an Assistant Designation Adviser, to take forward casework relating to the management of Protected Wreck Sites in England`s waters, and any new sites designated under the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973. In addition, the Assistant Adviser will assist with the delivery of other duties in relation to that Act transferred to English Heritage from the Department of Culture, Media & Sport.

The post is based in the Programmes and Maritime Designation Team in the Designation Department. The post holder may be based in Fort Cumberland, Portsmouth and will report to the National Maritime Designation Adviser.
