1) Executive Director, Herreshoff Marine Museum, Bristol, RI

The Herreshoff Marine Museum (HMM) houses one of the nation’s foremost historic maritime collections, presenting and interpreting the history and accomplishments of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company. Located in Bristol, Rhode Island, the HMM campus comprises eight buildings, four of them of historic significance, and extensive waterfront and docks, that are a destination for cruising sailors and small cruise ships as well as a venue for yacht rallies and regattas, and an attractive location for summer weddings and other events. A five-year strategic plan has recently been adopted and will guide HMM in achieving its potential. As the chief executive officer reporting to the chairman of the board of directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the leadership and management of the entire organization, and for all programs, fundraising, budgets, partnerships, and external relations. S/he must guide the Museum through a period of carefully managed growth, primarily created by outreach to the general public, classic boat enthusiasts, and local educational institutions. He or she must be a pro-active, visible symbol of HMM, upholding the highest standards in all of its activities and operations, maintaining fiscal discipline, and ensuring consistency in direction, communication, organizational alignment and vision.
