Staff Maritime Archaeologist
The History Department of East Carolina University invites applications from experienced maritime archaeologists for a non-faculty EPA position to begin on or around September 15, 2015 in its Program in Maritime Studies, a distinguished graduate program offering the MA in nautical archaeology and maritime history.
The holder of the position will be responsible for field project planning and supervision (30%), program administration and grant writing (25%), research and publication (20%), teaching (15%) and service (10%). Specific field support duties related to two annual maritime studies field schools will include student supervision and diving safety procedure; vehicle operation; boat launch, retrieval, operation and logistics; use of remote sensing apparatus (magnetometer, side scan, ROV, and supporting software including Hypack and ArcView); equipment set-up and student equipment training; diving logistics and site safety engineering; small engine and electronic equipment repair and service; vehicle maintenance; and equipment inventory organization and storage.
